Sasol Limited is an integrated energy and chemical company. The company's operations and principal activities are structured around integrated value chains. Sales volumes of Sasol's products are generally not subject to seasonal fluctuations but are influenced by broader global industry trends and macroeconomic factors. Sasol operates globally across diverse markets, and seasonality is not considered material to its overall results. In its Southern Africa value chain, Sasol's primary feedstocks for producing fuels and chemical products include coal, which is mined and procured externally by its Mining segment, natural gas obtained from and procured externally by its Gas segment, and crude oil purchased from external suppliers. Outside of Southern Africa, in its chemicals business, key feedstocks used are kerosene, benzene, ethane, ethylene, oleochemicals, and aluminum, all of which are purchased externally. At the Lake Charles facility, Sasol produces ethylene at its East Ethylene Cracker and also through the Louisiana Integrated Polyethylene JV LLC (LIP JV) cracker. The pricing of most raw materials is driven by global commodity market dynamics, particularly crude oil and energy prices, as well as supply and demand fundamentals. The Mining segment primarily supplies coal for internal consumption within the Sasol group.
