Septerna, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on discovering oral small molecule drugs targeting G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). The company utilizes its proprietary Native Complex Platform® to achieve this. This industrial-scale platform aims to develop GPCR therapies and has resulted in a pipeline of product candidates. Initially, these candidates are focused on treating patients in three therapeutic areas: endocrinology, immunology and inflammation, and metabolic diseases. GPCRs are the largest and most diverse family of cell membrane receptors, regulating physiological processes throughout the human body. This technology allows Septerna to isolate, purify, and reconstitute full-length, properly folded GPCR proteins within ternary complexes, including ligands and transducer proteins, in a lipid bilayer that mimics the cell membrane. The company then applies discovery tools and technologies to these protein complexes to design, screen for, and optimize potential product candidates.
