The Company is a natural health and wellness company that manufactures and directly sells nutritional and personal care products. Formed in 1976 as a Utah corporation, its main office is in Lehi, Utah. The Company sells its products to a sales force of independent consultants who either use the products themselves or resell them to consumers. The Company operates through four business segments: Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America and Other. These segments are primarily defined by their geographic region and the internal organization of officers. The Asia, Europe, and North America segments operate under the Nature's Sunshine Products and Synergy WorldWide® brands. The Latin America and Other segment includes a wholesale business where products are sold to various locally-managed entities, independent of the Company, that have been granted distribution rights for their respective markets. The Company offers a line of over 800 products across several classifications, including immune, cardiovascular, digestive, personal care, weight management, and other general health products. It purchases herbs and other raw materials in bulk, conducts quality control testing, and then formulates, encapsulates, tablets, or concentrates them, followed by labeling and packaging for shipment. Most products are manufactured at its facility in Spanish Fork, Utah. Some products are produced by contract manufacturers according to the Company's specifications and standards, with quality control procedures in place to ensure compliance.
