ZyVersa Therapeutics, Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that develops drugs for patients with chronic renal or inflammatory diseases. The company uses two proprietary, globally licensed drug development platforms, both discovered by research scientists at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. The first platform is Cholesterol Efflux Mediator VAR 200 (2-hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin or "2HPβCD"), an injectable drug in clinical development for renal diseases. VAR 200 was licensed from L&F Research LLC on December 15, 2015. ZyVersa's renal pipeline initially targets rare, chronic glomerular diseases, with its lead indication for VAR 200 being focal segmental glomerulosclerosis ("FSGS"). The company plans to start a Phase 2a basket trial in FSGS and Alport syndrome patients in Q2-2026. VAR 200 has pharmacologic proof-of-concept data in animal models for FSGS, Alport Syndrome, and diabetic kidney disease. The second platform is Inflammasome ASC Inhibitor IC 100, a humanized monoclonal antibody in preclinical development for inflammatory conditions. IC 100 was licensed from InflamaCore, LLC on April 18, 2019. This platform focuses on chronic inflammatory diseases, with its lead indication for IC 100 being cardiometabolic conditions associated with obesity. IC 100's preclinical development is nearing completion.
