Zapata Quantum is a pure-play quantum software company that provides solutions for deploying and accelerating quantum and hybrid quantum-classical computing applications. The company was founded in 2017 by researchers from a Harvard University Quantum Computing Lab. Zapata has developed an intellectual property portfolio in quantum and hybrid quantum-classical computing and algorithmic methods, with over 60 patents granted and pending over eight years. Its software platform for quantum computing applications, based on patented technology, supports use cases in cryptography, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, materials discovery, and defense. Zapata is the only organization to have participated across all technical areas of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's ("DARPA")'s Quantum Benchmarking program and has worked with Fortune 500 enterprises and government agencies. On March 28, 2024, the company completed a business combination where Legacy Zapata became a wholly owned subsidiary. In late 2024, the company temporarily suspended operations due to limited capital and liquidity. In June 2025, Zapata commenced debt restructuring and capital raising by exchanging outstanding obligations for Common Stock with unsecured creditors and selling convertible notes and warrants for gross proceeds of $3 million. The company continues to negotiate and restructure obligations and raise capital.
