Willamette Valley Vineyards, Inc. produces and sells wine primarily from grapes grown in its owned, leased, or contracted vineyards, as well as from purchased grapes. The company, originally established in 1983 by Jim Bernau, is headquartered in Turner, Oregon, south of Salem. Grapes are harvested, fermented, and made into wine primarily at the company's Estate Winery in Turner, Oregon, and also at the Tualatin Estate Vineyards and Winery near Forest Grove, Oregon. The company sells its wines principally under the Willamette Valley Vineyards label, and also under the Domaine Willamette, Griffin Creek, Tualatin Estate, Pambrun, Maison Bleue, Natoma, Metis, Pere Ami, and Elton labels. Willamette Valley Vineyards operates through two segments: direct sales and distributor sales. Direct sales encompass retail sales in tasting rooms, wine club sales, online sales, on-site events, kitchen and catering sales, and other direct-to-consumer sales. Distributor sales include all sales made through third parties at wholesale rates. Under its Willamette Valley Vineyards label, the company produces and sells various wines in 750 ml bottles. These include Pinot Noir, its flagship and largest selling varietal, priced from $25 to $120 per bottle; Chardonnay, $25 to $85 per bottle; Pinot Gris, $35 per bottle; Pinot Blanc, $40 per bottle; Sauvignon Blanc, $35 per bottle; Gruner Veltliner, $45 per bottle; Rose, $27 to $34 per bottle; Brut, $80 per bottle; Brut Rose, $80 per bottle; and Riesling, $21 per bottle.
