WaFd, Inc. is a financial holding company headquartered in Seattle, Washington, operating through its bank subsidiary, WaFd Bank. The Bank formally changed its name from Washington Federal Bank to WaFd Bank on September 25, 2025. WaFd, Inc. was formed in November 1994 and has been listed and trading on NASDAQ since November 9, 1982. The Company has recorded profitable operations every year since going public. On February 29, 2024, WaFd, Inc. completed its merger with Luther Burbank Corporation, effective March 1, 2024. This merger involved Luther Burbank merging into WaFd, Inc., and Luther Burbank Savings, Luther Burbank's bank subsidiary, merging into WaFd Bank. The merger added approximately $7.7 billion of Luther Burbank Corporation assets at fair value to WaFd, Inc.'s balance sheet. WaFd, Inc. also assumed $50,175,000 in floating rate junior subordinated debentures, due June 2036 and June 2037, and $93,514,000 in 6.5% senior unsecured term notes, which were paid off on September 30, 2024. This expansion increased WaFd Bank's presence to nine western states with the addition of ten California branches from Luther Burbank. The Company's fiscal year ends on September 30th.
