Virco Mfg. Corporation designs, produces, and distributes high-value furniture. Incorporated in California in February 1950 and reincorporated in Delaware in April 1984, Virco has a 76-year tradition in the furniture industry. The company began as a local manufacturer of chairs and desks for Los Angeles area schools and has grown to become the largest manufacturer and supplier of movable educational furniture and equipment for the preschool through 12th grade market in the United States. Virco offers a wide assortment of products, including mobile tables, mobile storage equipment, student and teacher desks, technology tables, 4-leg and mobile chairs and stools, activity tables, folding chairs, and folding tables. The company has developed products with designers such as Peter Glass and Bob Mills, including the ZUMA Series, Analogy and Civitas furniture collections, Metaphor and Sage Series items, Plateau and Text Series, and the new Topaz Series. Beyond the education market, which includes preschool through 12th grade public and private schools, junior and community colleges, four-year colleges and universities, and trade, technical, and vocational schools, Virco also supplies furniture and equipment to convention centers and arenas, the hospitality industry for banquet and meeting facilities, federal, state, county, and municipal government facilities, and places of worship. The company also sells to wholesalers, distributors, traditional retailers, and catalog retailers serving these markets. Virco employs interior designers, CAD layout specialists, and project management specialists who utilize proprietary PlanSCAPE® software to support its direct sales force.
