Valhi, Inc. operates in the chemicals, component products, and real estate management and development sectors across Europe, North America, Asia Pacific, and other international markets. Its Chemicals segment manufactures and sells titanium dioxide pigments (TiO2), which are white inorganic pigments used by manufacturers of paint, plastics, paper, fibers and ceramics, decorative laminate, and paper. This segment distributes TiO2 under the KRONOS brand through agents and distributors. The Component Products segment produces mechanical and electrical cabinet locks and other locking mechanisms for various applications, including mailboxes, ignition systems, file cabinets, desk drawers, tool storage cabinets, medical cabinetry security, integrated inventory and access control secured narcotics boxes, electronic circuit panels, storage compartments, gas station security, and vending and cash containment machines. This segment also supplies stainless steel exhaust components, gauges, throttle controls, wake enhancement systems, trim tabs, and related hardware and accessories, primarily for performance and ski/wakeboard boats. The Real Estate Management and Development segment provides utility services to industrial customers, owns real properties, and develops land for commercial, industrial, and residential uses. This segment also holds marketable securities and other investments. Valhi, Inc. was incorporated in 1932, is based in Dallas, Texas, and is a subsidiary of Dixie Rice Agricultural L.L.C.
