Turkcell is a technology and telecommunications company that has been central to the telecom industry in Türkiye since 1993. Initially a mobile operator, it evolved into a converged telecom and digital service provider. The company offers high-end mobile and fixed voice and data services, alongside a range of digital services. Turkcell maintains its position as the mobile market leader in Türkiye, supported by its service quality, value proposition, and distribution network. Its organizational structure focuses on efficiency and simplification, strengthening its role as a provider of mobile and fixed broadband communications, digital services, digital business services, and techfin services. Turkcell operates under a GSM (2G) license granted in April 1998, renewed on March 31, 2023, until April 30, 2029. It also holds a 20-year 3G license granted in April 2009 and a 13-year 4.5G authorization certificate granted in October 2015, effective until April 30, 2029. In the August 26, 2015, 4.5G (IMT) auction, Turkcell secured 172.4 MHz of technology-agnostic frequency band, the largest spectrum amount among operators in Türkiye, and began offering 4.5G services on April 1, 2016. Most recently, on October 16, 2025, Turkcell acquired an additional 160 MHz of spectrum in the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz bands during the 5G spectrum tender.
