SunCoke Energy, Inc. is the largest independent producer of high-quality coke in the Americas, with over 65 years of experience. The company produces coke by heating metallurgical coal, which is primarily used as a raw material in blast furnace steelmaking and foundry production of casted iron. The majority of SunCoke's sales come from blast furnace coke sold under long-term, take-or-pay agreements. Excess coke capacity is sold to export and North American domestic markets. SunCoke owns and operates five cokemaking facilities in the U.S. with a collective nameplate capacity of approximately 3.7 million tons of blast furnace coke per year. Additionally, SunCoke operates one cokemaking facility in Brazil for ArcelorMittal Brasil S.A. under licensing and operating agreements, which has approximately 1.7 million tons of annual cokemaking capacity. SunCoke also operates an industrial services business, providing export and domestic material handling and/or mixing services to coke, coal, steel, power, and other bulk customers. This segment also offers mission-critical mill services to steel producers globally. Its logistics terminals have a collective capacity to mix and transload more than 40 million tons of coal and other products annually, with approximately 3 million tons of storage capacity. These terminals are located to access Gulf Coast, East Coast, Great Lakes, and international ports. Industrial services also include molten slag removal, handling, and processing at customer sites, along with preparation and transportation of metal scraps, raw materials, and finished products. SunCoke reports its business through two segments: Domestic Coke and Industrial Services.
