Sonoco Products Company is a South Carolina corporation founded in Hartsville, South Carolina, in 1899 as the Southern Novelty Company. Initially, a team of 12 people produced cone-shaped paper yarn carriers. The company became the leading producer of cones in the United States and diversified its product line. In 1923, its name changed to Sonoco Products Company. Sonoco is now a multi-billion dollar global designer, developer, and manufacturer of highly engineered and sustainable packaging. As of December 31, 2025, the Company operated approximately 265 locations in 37 countries, serving global brands. Sonoco aims to provide integrated packaging solutions that define brand personalities, create customer experiences, and enhance product quality. The company helps customers solve packaging challenges by connecting insights to innovation and developing customized solutions. On December 4, 2024, Sonoco completed the acquisition of Eviosys, Europe's leading food cans, ends, and closures manufacturer, from KPS Capital Partners, LP, for approximately $3.8 billion. This acquisition advanced Sonoco's portfolio transformation strategy.
