Silexion Therapeutics Corp is a clinical-stage, oncology-focused biotechnology company that discovers and develops proprietary treatments for cancers driven by mutations in the Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog ("KRAS"). The KRAS gene, when mutated, is an oncogene that plays a central role in many cancer types, including pancreatic, colorectal, and lung cancers. This oncogene instructs cells to make the KRAS protein, which controls cell growth signaling in cancer cells. Silexion Therapeutics Corp's differentiated approach targets the root cause of oncogenic signaling by silencing the KRAS oncogene itself, thereby preventing the production of the oncogenic protein. The company's proprietary technology is designed to prompt tumor cells to degrade the messenger RNA (mRNA) that connects the oncogene and the cellular protein synthesis machinery. This is achieved using small interfering RNA (siRNA) constructs that are chemically modified to enhance stability and cellular uptake while maintaining biological activity that interferes with mRNA function. The lead product candidate, SIL204, is a second-generation siRNA engineered to suppress the production of mutated KRAS proteins.
