On February 5, 2025, Somnigroup completed the acquisition of Mattress Firm, a mattress specialty retailer. The total purchase price for this acquisition was approximately $5.1 billion, net of $0.3 billion in cash acquired. The aggregate purchase price consisted of $3.1 billion in cash and approximately 34.2 million shares of common stock, valued at $65.65 per share. This share value was based on the simple average of the opening and closing price per share on the NYSE on the trading day immediately prior to the acquisition date, with fractional shares paid in cash. Effective February 18, 2025, the company amended its Certificate of Incorporation to change its name to "Somnigroup International Inc." The company oversees investments in the $120 billion global sleep industry.
