The second segment involves the design, development, manufacture, and marketing of bioprocessing products, primarily those incorporating smart sensors and advanced software analytics, sold directly through the company's internal sales force. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Scientific Bioprocessing Holdings, Inc. (SBHI), and its subsidiaries Scientific Bioprocessing, Inc. (SBI) and aquila biolabs GmbH, Scientific Industries develops its bioprocessing systems. The company's products are primarily used for research by universities, pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, national laboratories, medical device manufacturers, and other industries conducting laboratory-scale research. The Benchtop Laboratory Equipment products include pharmacy and laboratory balances and scales, force gauges, automated pill counters, and moisture analyzers, sold under the "Torbal®" division with trademarks "Torbal" or "VIVID®". On August 7, 2025, the company sold its Genie product line, which was part of the Benchtop Laboratory Equipment operations, to Troemner, LLC, but continues to market and produce scales and pill counters within this segment. The assets sold included inventory, fixed assets, and intangible assets.
