Resources is a holding company incorporated in Virginia on July 31, 1998, with its subsidiaries reorganized under its structure effective July 1, 1999. The company is composed of two subsidiaries: Roanoke Gas and Midstream. Roanoke Gas, established in 1883 and organized as a public service corporation in Virginia in 1912, primarily distributes and sells natural gas. Its service territory includes Roanoke, Virginia, and surrounding localities, serving residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Roanoke Gas also provides non-regulated services, which account for less than 1% of consolidated revenues. Roanoke Gas operates an integrated natural gas distribution system, delivering natural gas purchased from suppliers to its customers. In 2025, Roanoke Gas served a total of 62,527 customers, delivering 11,493,415 DTHs of natural gas. Residential customers represented 91.3% of customers, 31.3% of volume, 58.0% of revenue, and 62.2% of margin. Commercial customers accounted for 8.6% of customers, 27.9% of volume, 35.0% of revenue, and 26.3% of margin. Industrial customers made up 0.1% of customers, 40.8% of volume, 6.2% of revenue, and 10.0% of margin. Total revenues for 2025 were $95,231,943, with a total margin of $52,680,989. In July 2015, Resources formed Midstream to invest in Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC, which was created to construct and operate interstate natural gas pipelines.
