RGA's operational segments are structured geographically and by business type. The geographic-based segments include U.S. and Latin America; Canada; Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA); and Asia Pacific. There is also a Corporate and Other segment. Within the geographic-based operations, businesses are further divided into traditional and financial solutions. The company's segments primarily write traditional reinsurance and financial solutions business, which is wholly or partially retained within one or more of RGA's insurance subsidiaries. Traditional reinsurance encompasses individual and group life and health, disability, long-term care, and critical illness reinsurance. Life reinsurance specifically covers individual or group-issued term, whole life, universal life, and joint and last survivor insurance policies. Health and disability reinsurance primarily covers individual or group health policies. Long-term care reinsurance provides benefits when a person can no longer perform specified activities of daily living.
