Replimune Group, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing oncolytic immunotherapies to treat cancer. The company's proprietary oncolytic immunotherapy product candidates are designed to activate the immune system against cancer. Oncolytic immunotherapy uses certain viruses that can selectively replicate in and directly kill tumors, and also trigger a strong, patient-specific, anti-tumor immune response. Replimune's product candidates integrate multiple mechanisms into an "off-the-shelf" approach to maximize the immune response against a patient's cancer. The company's proprietary RPx platform uses a novel, engineered strain of herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) backbone, with added payloads designed to maximize immunogenic cell death and induce a systemic anti-tumor immune response. The RPx platform aims for dual local and systemic activity: direct virus-mediated killing of the tumor, which releases tumor-derived antigens, and altering the tumor microenvironment to initiate a strong and lasting systemic response. Replimune expects its product candidates to work synergistically with most established and experimental cancer treatments and, due to their safety profile, the RPx platform is expected to be versatile enough for development alone or in combination with other treatments. Replimune currently has two RPx product candidates in its development pipeline: RP1 (vusolimogene oderparepvec), its lead product candidate, and RP2 (sturlimgene erparepvec). The company has been conducting several clinical trials for RP1, both as a single therapy and combined with anti-PD-1 therapy, with the aim of establishing a major skin cancer treatment franchise. While the fiscal year ends March 31st, program updates are reported on a calendar year basis.
