People Incorporated is a category-leading business that is part of IAC Inc. IAC, which also includes Care.com and holds strategic equity positions in MGM Resorts International and Turo Inc., began over twenty-five years ago as a hybrid media/electronic retailing company. Since then, IAC has evolved into a leading Internet company by developing, building, acquiring, and distributing businesses to its stockholders, and it continues to build companies and invest opportunistically. From the late 1990s onward, IAC acquired numerous e-commerce companies, including Ticketmaster Group, Hotel Reservations Network, Expedia.com, Match.com, LendingTree, TripAdvisor, HomeAdvisor, Ask Jeeves, and Interval International. In 2005, IAC separated its travel and travel-related businesses and investments into an independent public company, Expedia, Inc. In 2008, IAC separated into five independent public companies: IAC, HSN, Inc., Interval Leisure Group, Inc., Ticketmaster, and Tree.com, Inc. Following this, IAC continued to invest in and acquire e-commerce companies, such as About.com and several online dating companies in the United States and various international jurisdictions. In 2017, IAC completed the combination of businesses from its former HomeAdvisor financial reporting segment with Angie's List, Inc. under a new public company, ANGI Homeservices Inc., which IAC controls. In 2018, through ANGI Homeservices Inc., IAC acquired Handy Technologies, Inc., a leading platform in the United States for connecting consumers seeking household services with pre-screened independent home professionals.
