PPG Industries, Inc. manufactures and distributes a broad range of paints, coatings, and specialty products. Incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1883, PPG markets and sells in more than 50 countries. The company supplies paints, coatings, and specialty products to customers across various end-uses, including industrial equipment and components; packaging material; aircraft and marine equipment; automotive original equipment; automotive refinish and aftermarket; pavement marking products; and coatings for other industrial and consumer products. PPG also serves commercial and residential new build and maintenance customers by supplying coatings to painting and maintenance contractors and directly to consumers for decoration and maintenance. The coatings industry is highly competitive, with PPG competing against large global firms and many regional companies. PPG's business is comprised of three reportable segments: Global Architectural Coatings, which provides sustainable do-it-yourself (DIY), trade, and retail high-performance solutions through its brands and distribution networks; Performance Coatings, which delivers highly-specified, differentiated products and services focused on aftermarket and select original equipment manufacturers; and Industrial Coatings, which provides direct-to-factory technology-advantaged solutions integrated into original equipment manufacturer customers' operations.
