Insulet Corporation develops, manufactures, and sells continuous insulin delivery systems for individuals with insulin-dependent diabetes. The company's Omnipod platform features three main products: the Omnipod 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System, the Omnipod DASH Insulin Management System, and the Classic Omnipod Insulin Management System. Beyond its diabetes care products, Insulet also produces pods for Amgen. These pods are integrated into Amgen's Neulasta Onpro kit, which is a delivery system for Amgen's Neulasta medication, designed to help reduce infection risk following intense chemotherapy. Diabetes is a chronic, life-threatening condition where the body cannot produce or effectively use insulin, leading to unregulated blood glucose levels. Both high blood glucose (hyperglycemia) and low blood glucose (hypoglycemia) can cause serious complications, including confusion, vomiting, dehydration, loss of consciousness, and long-term issues like blindness, kidney disease, nervous system disease, vascular diseases, stroke, cardiovascular disease, or death. Type 1 diabetes involves the body's near-complete inability to produce insulin, requiring daily insulin therapy for survival. Type 2 diabetes, the more common form, involves the body's inability to properly use or produce enough insulin, with increasing incidence in younger populations.
