PBF Energy is one of the largest independent petroleum refiners and suppliers of unbranded transportation fuels, heating oil, petrochemical feedstocks, lubricants, and other petroleum products in the United States. The company sells its products across the Northeast, Midwest, Gulf Coast, and West Coast of the United States, as well as in other U.S. regions, Canada, and Mexico, with the capability to ship to other international destinations. PBF Energy owns and operates six domestic oil refineries and related assets. It also holds a 50% interest in the Renewable Diesel Facility through its SBR equity method investment. The refineries have a combined processing capacity, or throughput, of approximately 1,000,000 bpd and a weighted-average Nelson Complexity Index of 12.8 based on current operating conditions. The company operates in two reportable business segments: Refining and Logistics. The Refining segment includes all six oil refineries, which are engaged in refining crude oil and other feedstocks into petroleum products. The Logistics segment, operated by PBFX, includes logistical assets such as crude oil and refined products terminals, pipelines, and storage facilities. PBF Energy is a holding company whose primary asset is a controlling equity interest in PBF LLC, and it consolidates the financial results of PBF LLC and its subsidiaries. PBF Holding, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PBF LLC, is the parent company for the refining operations.
