The company sells products to both do-it-yourself (DIY) customers and professional service providers, utilizing a "dual market strategy." Founded in 1957 by Charles F. O'Reilly and Charles H. "Chub" O'Reilly, Sr., the business began with a single store in Springfield, Missouri. Its common stock has traded on The Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "ORLY" since April 22, 1993.
