On August 18, 2025, Nexstar entered into an agreement to acquire TEGNA, which owns and operates 64 television stations and two radio stations in 51 DMAs in the U.S. The merger is anticipated to close by the second half of 2026. Nexstar was formed in 1996 as a Delaware corporation. The substantial majority of its assets, including its television stations, The CW, and multicast networks, are broadcast television assets.
