Northern Technologies International Corporation (NTIC) develops and sells specialized, environmentally friendly products and services in over 65 countries. The company operates directly or through subsidiaries, joint ventures, independent distributors, and agents. NTIC's main business is corrosion prevention, primarily marketed under the ZERUST® brand. NTIC has sold its ZERUST® products and services for over 50 years to the automotive, general industrial, mechanical, mining, agricultural, and retail consumer markets, and has recently expanded into the oil and gas industry. Additionally, NTIC sells a range of proprietary bio-based and certified compostable (fully biodegradable) polymer resin compounds and finished products under the Natur-Tec® brand. These sustainable packaging products aim to reduce customers' carbon footprint and offer environmentally sound waste disposal options. NTIC's ZERUST® rust and corrosion inhibiting products include plastic and paper packaging, liquids, coatings, rust removers, cleaners, and diffusers, as well as engineered solutions tailored for specific industries. NTIC also provides worldwide, on-site, technical consulting for rust and corrosion prevention. In North America, NTIC sells ZERUST® solutions through independent distributors and agents, supported by a direct sales force. Internationally, NTIC sells ZERUST® solutions through its wholly owned subsidiary in China, NTIC (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (NTIC China), its wholly owned subsidiary in India, HNTI Limited (Zerust India), its majority-owned joint venture holding company for ASEAN investments, NTI Asean LLC (NTI Asean), its majority-owned subsidiary in Brazil, Zerust Prevenção de Corrosão S.A (Zerust Brazil), and certain majority-owned and wholly owned subsidiaries, and joint venture arrangements in North America, Europe, and Asia. NTIC also sells products directly to its European joint venture partners through its wholly owned subsidiary in Germany, NTIC Europe GmbH (NTI Europe).
