Neuphoria is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing therapies for neuropsychiatric disorders. The company's primary drug candidate is BNC210, an oral, proprietary, selective negative allosteric modulator of the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. BNC210 is being developed for the acute, "as needed" treatment of social anxiety disorder (SAD) and for the chronic treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Over 27 million patients in the United States suffer from SAD and PTSD. BNC210 is designed to restore neurotransmitter balance in relevant brain areas to provide rapid relief from stress and anxiety symptoms without sedation, cognitive impairment, or addiction. In December 2022, Neuphoria announced the results of the Phase 2 PREVAIL trial for BNC210 for the acute treatment of SAD. Neuphoria also has a strategic partnership with Merck & Co., Inc. (known as Merck outside the United States and Canada), which includes two drugs in early-stage clinical trials for cognitive deficits in Alzheimer's disease and other central nervous system (CNS) conditions. Neuphoria's pipeline further includes the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor next generation and the Kv3.1/3.2 preclinical programs, both of which are in the lead optimization development stage.
