NuCana plc

NuCana plc is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on improving cancer treatment outcomes. The company applies its ProTide technology to transform widely prescribed chemotherapy agents, known as nucleoside analogs, into more effective and safer medicines. This technology also enables the therapeutic development of nucleosides that have previously failed due to resistance mechanisms and metabolic limitations. While conventional nucleoside analogs are standard treatments for many solid and hematological tumors, they have significant shortcomings that limit their efficacy and are often poorly tolerated. NuCana's proprietary ProTide technology is designed to overcome these limitations by generating much higher concentrations of anti-cancer metabolites within cancer cells. The company was incorporated in England and Wales in 1997 as Biomed (UK) Limited, commenced operations in 2008, and changed its name to NuCana BioMed Limited on April 28, 2008. On August 29, 2017, it re-registered as a public limited company and became NuCana plc. On October 2, 2017, the company completed its initial public offering of American Depositary Shares (ADSs) on The Nasdaq Global Select Market. On November 9, 2023, the listing was transferred to The Nasdaq Capital Market, where its ADSs trade under the symbol "NCNA".
