Metallus Inc. manufactures alloy steel, carbon steel, and micro-alloy steel using electric arc furnace (EAF) technology. The company was incorporated in Ohio on October 24, 2013, and became an independent public company on June 30, 2014, after spinning off from The Timken Company. Metallus's product portfolio includes special bar quality (SBQ) bars, seamless mechanical tubing (tubes), manufactured components such as precision steel components, and billets. The company also manages raw material recycling programs, which supply its internal melt operations and allow for the sale of excess scrap to third parties. Metallus's products are used in demanding applications across industrial, automotive, aerospace & defense, and energy end-markets. SBQ steel, known for its restrictive chemical compositions and high internal purity, is used in critical mechanical applications. These products are made from nearly 100% recycled steel. The company focuses on creating tailored products and works with customers to deliver flexible solutions. SBQ bar, tube, and billet production occurs at the Canton, Ohio manufacturing location, which includes three facilities: Faircrest, Harrison, and Gambrinus. Manufactured components are produced at two downstream facilities: Tryon Peak (Columbus, North Carolina) and St. Clair (Eaton, Ohio). Many production processes are integrated, and products from these facilities are sold across all end-markets.
