In September 2020, its board of directors adopted a Treasury Reserve Policy, under which treasury reserve assets consist of cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments in excess of working capital requirements, and bitcoin, which serves as the primary treasury reserve asset. In the first quarter of 2021, the company adopted a corporate strategy of acquiring and holding bitcoin, including with proceeds from capital raising transactions. Its capital markets strategy generally involves issuing Class A common stock and preferred securities through at-the-market equity offering programs. Prior to 2025, the company primarily used proceeds from sales of Class A common stock and senior convertible notes to purchase bitcoin. The company changed its name from "MicroStrategy Incorporated" to "Strategy Inc." on August 11, 2025.
