Marine Products manufactures and sells recreational fiberglass powerboats for the pleasure boat and sport fishing boat markets. The company's product offerings include Chaparral sterndrive and outboard sport boats, and Robalo outboard sport fishing boats. Marine Products distributes and markets its boats through an independent dealer network, consisting of 192 domestic and 84 international independent authorized dealers. The company operates two brands: Chaparral, which focuses on sport boats, and Robalo, which focuses on fishing boats. Chaparral was founded in 1965 and moved its operations to Nashville, Georgia, in 1976. RPC acquired Chaparral in 1986. Robalo was founded in 1969 and was acquired by Marine Products in 2001. Marine Products was incorporated on August 31, 2000, as a Delaware corporation, in connection with a spin-off from RPC, Inc. Effective February 28, 2001, RPC completed the spin-off by contributing 100% of Chaparral's stock to Marine Products and then distributing Marine Products' common stock to RPC stockholders.
