MidCap Financial Investment Corporation (MFIC) is a closed-end, externally managed, diversified management investment company that operates as a Business Development Company (BDC) under the 1940 Act and as a Regulated Investment Company (RIC) for tax purposes. Organized on February 2, 2004, MFIC began operations on April 8, 2004, following its initial public offering, which generated $870 million in net proceeds from selling 62 million shares of common stock at $15.00 per share (or 20.7 million shares at $45.00 per share after a one-for-three reverse stock split). From its inception through December 31, 2025, the company has raised approximately $2.68 billion in net proceeds from subsequent common stock offerings and has repurchased common stock totaling $267.1 million. On November 7, 2023, MFIC entered into merger agreements with Apollo Senior Floating Rate Fund Inc. (AFT) and Apollo Tactical Income Fund Inc. (AIF).
