Mercantile Bank Corporation

Mercantile Bank Corporation is a registered bank holding company organized on July 15, 1997, under Michigan law. The company primarily holds all the stock of Mercantile Bank, which began operations on December 15, 1997. As a bank holding company, it is regulated by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. The company elected to become a financial holding company, effective April 14, 2014. Mercantile Bank Corporation operates through its wholly owned subsidiaries. Mercantile Insurance Center, Inc., a subsidiary of Mercantile Bank, started offering insurance products in 2002. Mercantile Community Partners (MCP), another subsidiary, began operations in 2023 to invest in community development tax credit investments. On December 31, 2025, Mercantile Bank Corporation completed a merger with Eastern Michigan Financial Corporation, the bank holding company for Eastern Michigan Bank. Eastern Michigan Financial Corporation shareholders received 0.7116 shares of Mercantile Bank Corporation stock and $32.32 for each share of Eastern Michigan Financial Corporation stock. Eastern Michigan Bank now operates alongside Mercantile Bank. The company plans to consolidate Eastern Michigan Bank into Mercantile Bank in the first quarter of 2027, following the completion of its core processor conversion. The Federal Reserve Board approved this merger on December 16, 2025. The company's expenses are generally paid using cash dividends from Mercantile Bank.
