Grayscale Litecoin Trust

Grayscale Litecoin Trust (LTC) is a Delaware Statutory Trust established on January 26, 2018, to hold Litecoin ("LTC"). Litecoin is a digital asset created and transmitted through the peer-to-peer Litecoin Network, a decentralized network operating on cryptographic protocols. Litecoin, an alternative software implementation of Bitcoin, was created in late 2011 by Charlie Lee. While similar to Bitcoin, key differences exist. The Litecoin Network uses the Scrypt hashing algorithm, which does not require expensive application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) for mining, promoting less centralized mining power. In contrast, Bitcoin uses the SHA-256 algorithm, which is preferred for parallel processing and is easily used with ASICs. Litecoin blocks are generated approximately every two and a half minutes, four times faster than Bitcoin's block production. Consequently, Litecoin halvings occur every 840,000 blocks, four times further apart than Bitcoin's 210,000 blocks. Litecoin has a maximum supply of 84 million coins and a current circulating supply of 76.0 million coins. Bitcoin has a maximum supply of 21 million and a current circulating supply of 19.9 million coins as of June 30, 2025. As of June 30, 2025, the 24-hour trading volume for Litecoin was approximately $140.8 million, compared to Bitcoin's $8.6 billion.
