LENZ Therapeutics, Inc. is a commercial pharmaceutical company that develops and sells innovative therapies to improve vision. On July 31, 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved VIZZ (aceclidine ophthalmic solution) 1.44%, previously known as LNZ100. VIZZ is the first and only FDA-approved aceclidine-based eye drop for treating presbyopia, a condition affecting an estimated 1.8 billion people globally and 128 million people in the U.S. The company is selling VIZZ in the U.S. and is forming international licensing and distribution partnerships to make VIZZ available worldwide. LENZ commercially launched VIZZ in the U.S. in August 2025, with sales and marketing activities targeting eye care professionals starting immediately after approval. Professional product samples were distributed by the sales force to optometrists and ophthalmologists, and commercial product shipments to customers through their e-pharmacy partner began in October 2025. VIZZ (aceclidine ophthalmic solution) 1.44% is a once-daily eye drop designed to restore clear near vision for up to 10 hours. Its active ingredient, aceclidine, is a new chemical entity (NCE) in the U.S. and is a predominantly pupil-selective miotic that interacts with the iris with minimal ciliary muscle stimulation. VIZZ contracts the iris sphincter muscle, creating a pinhole effect and achieving a sub-2mm pupil, which extends depth of focus to significantly improve near vision without causing a myopic shift. The FDA approval of aceclidine marks a global first for the treatment of presbyopia.
