We are a biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing, and commercializing a new class of genetic medicines that edit RNA. Our goal is to treat both rare and common diseases. We are building a portfolio of programs designed to use the body's natural RNA editing process to make a precise, temporary change to a single nucleoside (converting adenosine to inosine). By editing RNA instead of DNA, we aim to expand the scope of genetic medicines, offering greater precision and adjustability, which could lead to increased specificity and better long-term tolerability. Our approach uses oligonucleotides, and we plan to deliver our medicines to patients using our proprietary platform. This platform incorporates established delivery methods, such as N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc)-conjugated delivery for subcutaneous administration, along with our manufacturing expertise and the existing regulatory pathways for approved oligonucleotide medicines. However, the scientific evidence supporting the feasibility of developing lead candidates using our RNA editing technology is preliminary and limited. Regulatory bodies have not yet set definitive guidelines for the overall development of RNA editing therapies, and limited clinical data has been generated to date. The flexibility of RNA editing, combined with our OPERA platform, significantly expands the range of potential therapeutic targets. Large-scale genome sequencing has increasingly identified genetic variations that cause various human diseases, both rare and common. Genetic mutations, including single nucleotide variants (SNVs), linked to disease are diverse and can impact gene function and related biochemical pathways. Data show that SNVs can lead to either a loss-of-function or a gain-of-function of a gene. Additionally, most SNVs involved in complex diseases modulate gene function. By editing RNA to mimic an SNV, we aim to address unmet patient needs by temporarily modifying gene expression and the resulting protein function.
