Insteel Industries Inc. is the nation's largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications. The company manufactures and markets prestressed concrete strand ("PC strand") and welded wire reinforcement ("WWR"), which includes ESM, concrete pipe reinforcement ("CPR"), and standard welded wire reinforcement ("SWWR"). These products are primarily sold to manufacturers of concrete products used mainly in nonresidential construction. For fiscal 2025, approximately 85% of Insteel's sales were related to nonresidential construction and 15% were related to residential construction. Insteel is the parent holding company for two wholly-owned subsidiaries: Insteel Wire Products Company ("IWP"), an operating subsidiary, and Intercontinental Metals Corporation, an inactive subsidiary. The company was incorporated in 1958 in North Carolina and is headquartered in Mount Airy, North Carolina. Insteel operates eleven manufacturing facilities, all located in the U.S. On October 21, 2024, Insteel, through its wholly-owned subsidiary IWP, purchased substantially all the assets, excluding cash and accounts receivable, of Engineered Wire Products, Inc. ("EWP") and certain related assets of Liberty Steel Georgetown, Inc. ("LSG") for an adjusted purchase price of $67.0 million. EWP was a leading manufacturer of WWR products for nonresidential and residential construction. This acquisition included EWP's inventories, production equipment, and production facilities in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and Warren, Ohio, along with certain equipment from LSG. Following the acquisition, Insteel consolidated its WWR operations by closing the Warren facility and relocating some equipment to existing WWR facilities.
