The Diagnostics segment offers a wide range of products primarily used for screening and diagnosing human diseases. Key Diagnostics products include molecular diagnostic assays, which run on advanced instrumentation systems like Panther and Panther Fusion. This segment also provides cytology systems, such as the ThinPrep System and the Genius Digital Diagnostics System, and the Rapid fFN Test. The Aptima family of molecular diagnostic assays detects infectious microorganisms causing common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) like chlamydia and gonorrhea (CT/NG), certain high-risk strains of human papillomavirus (HPV), Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma genitalium, and Herpes Simplex viruses 1 and 2. Hologic also offers viral load tests for quantifying Hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis C virus, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1), and human cytomegalovirus (CMV) for use on the Panther instrument system. Additionally, the company provides bacterial vaginosis and candida vaginitis assays (BV/CV) for diagnosing vaginitis. The assay portfolio includes diagnostic tests for acute respiratory infections, such as SARS-CoV-2, various strains of influenza and parainfluenza, and respiratory syncytial virus, as well as a test for Group B Streptococcus (GBS). Two assays detect several bacterial gastrointestinal (GI) pathogens causing acute gastroenteritis; all these run on the Panther Fusion system, a field-upgradeable addition to the base Panther system.
