On December 10, 2025, HNI acquired Steelcase Inc., a global design and furniture company, for $1.9 billion in cash and HNI common stock. HNI has two reportable segments: Workplace Furnishings and Residential Building Products. The Workplace Furnishings segment sells products such as panel-based and freestanding furniture systems, seating, benching, tables, architectural products, storage, ancillary products, hospitality products, and social collaborative items. These products are primarily sold through independent dealers, company-owned dealers, and office product distributors, and also directly to end-user customers and government entities. The Residential Building Products segment manufactures and sells gas, wood, electric, and pellet-fueled fireplaces, inserts, stoves, facings, outdoor fire pits and fire tables, and accessories. These products are sold through a national network of independent dealers and distributors, as well as company-owned installing distribution and retail outlets.
