HARMONY GOLD MINING CO LTD

Harmony operates the Doornkop underground gold mine, located in the West Wits mining district southwest of Johannesburg, in the Gauteng Province, South Africa. This mine is wholly-owned and operated by Harmony and forms part of Harmony's West Rand operations. The Doornkop shaft complex is situated south of Krugersdorp, 30km west of Johannesburg. The property extends to a maximum depth of approximately 2,000m below mine datum. Current mining operations at Doornkop extract the South Reef, which entirely comprises the Mineral Reserves. Mineral Resources at Doornkop consist of the South Reef, the Kimberley Reef, and a limited amount (<0.5%) of the Main Reef. The narrow South Reef is exploited using conventional stoping methods. The ore mined at Doornkop is processed at the mine's carbon-in-pulp (CIP) plant, which is located adjacent to the shaft. Operations are powered by electricity supplied by Eskom. The region's infrastructure, including national and provincial paved road networks, power transmission and distribution networks, water supply networks, and communication infrastructure, supports the operational gold mines in the area. Doornkop's surface and underground infrastructure, including its power and water supplies, is sufficient for current and planned production levels.
