Getty Realty Corp. is a publicly traded, net lease real estate investment trust (REIT) specializing in the acquisition, financing, and development of convenience, automotive, and other single-tenant retail real estate. The company's predecessor was founded in 1955, and its common stock was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1997. Getty Realty's portfolio includes convenience stores, express tunnel car washes, automotive service centers (gasoline and repair, oil and maintenance, tire and battery, and collision), drive-thru quick-service restaurants, and certain other freestanding retail properties. As of December 31, 2025, the company owned 1,174 properties located in 44 states and Washington, D.C. Its tenants operate under a variety of national and regional retail brands. The company is internally managed by a team with extensive experience in acquiring, financing, developing, and managing convenience, automotive, and other single-tenant retail real estate. Getty Realty elected to be treated as a REIT under federal income tax laws starting January 1, 2001. As a REIT, the company is required to distribute at least 90% of its taxable income to stockholders annually and is subject to corporate-level federal income taxes on any undistributed taxable income.
