Genie Energy Ltd. is an end-to-end provider of energy services, operating through two reporting segments: Genie Retail Energy (GRE) and Genie Renewables (GREW). GRE supplies electricity and natural gas to residential and small business customers through retail energy providers (REPs) in deregulated markets within the United States. Its REPs include IDT Energy, Inc., Residents Energy, LLC, Town Square Energy, LLC, Town Square Energy East, LLC, Southern Federal Power, LLC, Evergreen Gas & Electric, LLC, and Mirabito Natural Gas, LLC. The majority of GRE's customers are located in the Eastern and Midwestern United States and Texas, with Mirabito supplying natural gas to commercial customers in Florida. GREW comprises Genie Solar, an integrated solar energy company; CityCom Solar, a marketer of community solar and alternative energy products; Diversegy LLC, an energy procurement advisor for industrial, commercial, and municipal customers; and Roded Recycling Industries, a producer of high-grade plastic pallets from recycled materials. The Company owns 100% of Genie Retail Energy, Inc. and 95.5% of Genie Energy Services, LLC, which holds the interests in the GREW segment entities. In the third quarter of 2022, the Company ceased operating its former GRE International segment.
