As a holding company, it does not have its own operations but conducts business through its subsidiaries. The company aims to consolidate its position as a leading comprehensive financial services provider in Argentina and strengthen its main subsidiary, Banco Galicia, as one of Argentina's leading banks. It seeks to expand and complement Banco Galicia's operations by holding stakes in companies with objectives related to or synergistic with financial activities. Its non-banking subsidiaries operate in financial and related activities where Banco Galicia cannot participate or can only participate on a limited basis due to banking regulations. On December 6, 2024, Grupo Financiero Galicia completed the purchase of HSBC Latin America B.V.'s equity stakes in its Argentine subsidiaries and acquired HSBC's banking, asset management, and insurance businesses in Argentina.
