First Merchants Corporation is a financial holding company organized in September 1982 and headquartered in Muncie, Indiana. The company operates through its single full-service bank charter, First Merchants Bank, which began operations in Muncie, Indiana in March 1893. First Merchants Bank includes 111 banking locations across Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan, supplemented by electronic and mobile delivery channels. The Corporation's business activities are concentrated in one significant segment: community banking. Through the Bank, it provides a wide array of commercial and consumer banking services. The commercial banking team offers debt capital, treasury management services, and depository products. The consumer banking group provides various consumer deposit and lending products. The mortgage banking team delivers consumer mortgage solutions for purchasing, refinancing, constructing, or renovating residential properties. Additionally, First Merchants Private Wealth Advisors, a division of First Merchants Bank, offers personal wealth management services, including investment management, private banking, fiduciary estate, and financial planning. As of December 31, 2025, the Corporation reported consolidated assets of $19.0 billion, consolidated deposits of $15.3 billion, and stockholders' equity of $2.5 billion. On February 1, 2026, the Corporation completed the acquisition of First Savings Financial Group, Inc., with First Savings Bank merging into First Merchants Bank.
