Finward Bancorp is an Indiana corporation incorporated on January 31, 1994, operating as the holding company for Peoples Bank, an Indiana-chartered commercial bank. The Company's earnings are primarily dependent on the Bank's performance, as it has no other business activity beyond being a holding company. Peoples Bank primarily attracts deposits from the general public and originates various types of loans. These loans are mostly secured by single-family residences and commercial real estate, and also include construction loans, consumer loans, commercial business loans, and municipal loans. The Bank's primary market areas are Lake and Porter Counties in Northwest Indiana, and Cook County, Illinois. In addition to banking services, the Company's Wealth Management Group offers a range of services. These include estate and retirement planning, guardianships, land trusts, profit sharing and 401(k) retirement plans, IRA and Keogh accounts, and investment agency accounts. The Wealth Management Group also serves as personal representative of estates and acts as trustee for revocable and irrevocable trusts. The Company evaluates financial performance on a Company-wide basis, with the majority of its revenue derived from banking. All of the Company's operations are considered a single reportable operating segment. Peoples Bank's deposit accounts are insured up to applicable limits by the Deposit Insurance Fund, administered by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
