First BanCorp. is a publicly owned financial holding company that provides full-service commercial and consumer banking services, mortgage banking services, automobile financing, insurance agency services, and other financial products and services. The company was incorporated in Puerto Rico in 1948 and operates through its subsidiaries, primarily FirstBank and FirstBank Insurance Agency, Inc. FirstBank is a Puerto Rico-chartered commercial bank, while FirstBank Insurance Agency is a Puerto Rico-chartered insurance agency. First BanCorp. conducts its business in Puerto Rico, the U.S., the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI), and the British Virgin Islands (BVI). As of December 31, 2025, the company had total assets of $19.1 billion, including loans held for investment of $13.1 billion, total deposits of $16.7 billion, and total stockholders' equity of $2.0 billion. FirstBank operates through its main office in San Juan, Puerto Rico, 57 banking branches in Puerto Rico, eight banking branches in the USVI and the BVI, and eight banking branches in the state of Florida. The company's operations are subject to regulation by various authorities, including the Federal Reserve Board, the Office of the Commissioner of Financial Institutions of Puerto Rico, the FDIC, the USVI Division of Banking Insurance, and Financial Regulation, the BVI Financial Services Commission, the Florida Office of Financial Regulation, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. FirstBank Insurance Agency is regulated by the Office of the Insurance Commissioner of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the Division of Banking, Insurance and Financial Regulation in the USVI.
