Fortress Biotech, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company that acquires and advances assets to increase long-term value for shareholders through product revenue, equity holdings, and dividend and royalty income. Fortress collaborates with a network of key opinion leaders to identify and evaluate promising products and product candidates for potential acquisition. The company has established agreements with universities, research institutes, and pharmaceutical companies, including City of Hope National Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, AstraZeneca plc, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Ltd., and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited. After exclusively licensing or acquiring intellectual property for a product or candidate, Fortress applies its business, scientific, regulatory, legal, and financial expertise to support its subsidiaries and partner companies. These companies then explore strategic arrangements such as joint ventures, partnerships, out-licensings, sales transactions, and public and private financings to accelerate and fund research and development. Currently, three partner companies are publicly traded, and four subsidiaries have formed strategic partnerships with industry leaders, including AstraZeneca plc (as successor to Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc.), Sentynl Therapeutics, Inc., Axsome Therapeutics, Inc., and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited. Fortress's subsidiary and partner companies developing and/or commercializing biopharmaceutical products and candidates include Journey Medical Corporation (Nasdaq: DERM), Mustang Bio, Inc. (Nasdaq: MBIO), Avenue Therapeutics, Inc. (OTC: ATXI), Cellvation, Inc., Cyprium Therapeutics, Inc., Helocyte, Inc., Oncogenuity, Inc., and Urica Therapeutics, Inc. Checkpoint Therapeutics, Inc., a former partner company, was acquired by Sun Pharma in May 2025. Baergic Bio, Inc., previously a subsidiary of Avenue, was acquired by Axsome in November 2025.
