We are a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing off-the-shelf cellular immunotherapies. Our approach, called cellular programming, involves creating and engineering human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to include synthetic controls of cell function. After engineering, we generate a clonal master iPSC line, which serves as a renewable source for manufacturing cell therapies. This process allows us to produce cell therapy product candidates with a uniform composition. We believe our proprietary clonal master iPSC lines can be used to mass produce multiplexed-engineered cellular immunotherapies that are off-the-shelf and on-demand, and can be given alone or with standard treatments. Using our iPSC product platform, we are developing off-the-shelf, multiplexed-engineered T-cell and natural killer (NK) cell product candidates. These candidates are designed to incorporate novel synthetic controls of cell function to enhance their therapeutic capacity and deliver multiple therapeutic mechanisms to patients. Our pipeline includes iPSC-derived, chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-targeted T-cell and NK cell product candidates currently under development. Human cells as therapeutic entities have the potential to transform a broad range of severe, life-threatening diseases. CAR T-cell therapy, a specific form of cell therapy, has become a treatment for patients with certain hematologic malignancies, with multiple CAR T-cell therapies approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for indications such as relapsed/refractory B-cell malignancies and relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma. CAR T-cell therapy has also been demonstrated for autoimmune diseases including systemic lupus erythematosus, idiopathic inflammatory myositis, systemic sclerosis, and myasthenia gravis.
