Exelixis, Inc. is an oncology company that develops next-generation medicines for cancer care. The company has produced four marketed pharmaceutical products. Two of these products are formulations of its primary molecule, cabozantinib. Sales from cabozantinib represent the majority of Exelixis's revenues. Cabozantinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets MET, AXL, VEGF receptors, and RET. It is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and in 68 other countries. As CABOMETYX® (cabozantinib) tablets, it is approved for advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) (both alone and in combination with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company's nivolumab (OPDIVO®)), previously treated hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), previously treated, radioactive iodine (RAI)-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), and previously treated, unresectable, locally advanced or metastatic, well-differentiated pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNET) and extra-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (epNET). As COMETRIQ® (cabozantinib) capsules, it is approved for progressive, metastatic medullary thyroid cancer (MTC). The other two products from Exelixis's discovery efforts are COTELLIC® (cobimetinib) and MINNEBRO® (esaxerenone). COTELLIC® (cobimetinib), a MEK inhibitor, is approved as part of multiple combination regimens to treat specific forms of advanced melanoma and is marketed in collaboration with Genentech, Inc. MINNEBRO® (esaxerenone), an oral, non-steroidal, selective blocker of the mineralocorticoid receptor, is approved for the treatment of hypertension in Japan and is licensed to Daiichi Sankyo Company, Limited. Exelixis is also advancing its product pipeline, including zanzalintinib, which is currently under review by the FDA for certain forms of colorectal cancer (CRC) and is in late-stage clinical development for other indications.
