Eastman Chemical Company is a global specialty materials company that produces a broad range of products found in items people use every day. Incorporated in Delaware on December 31, 1993, Eastman began operations in 1920 to produce chemicals for Eastman Kodak Company's photographic business. The company operates 36 manufacturing facilities and holds equity interests in four manufacturing joint ventures across 12 countries, supplying products to customers worldwide. Eastman's headquarters and largest manufacturing facility are located in Kingsport, Tennessee. The company's businesses are managed and reported in four operating segments: Advanced Materials (AM), Additives & Functional Products (AFP), Chemical Intermediates (CI), and Fibers. Since 2004, Eastman has refocused its strategy from diversified commodity and specialty chemical businesses to primarily specialty businesses. This involved divesting under-performing assets and commodity businesses, such as resins, inks, and monomers product lines in 2004, the polyethylene business in 2006, and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) assets and business from 2007 to 2010. Concurrently, Eastman pursued growth through acquisitions, including Solutia, Inc. in 2012 and Taminco Corporation in 2014, and through organic development of new technologies and products.
