We are a clinical stage gene editing company that uses our proprietary ARCUS platform to develop two clinical-stage in vivo gene editing therapies. The ARCUS platform is distinct from other technologies due to its cutting mechanism, smaller size, and simpler structure. This platform is utilized to create in vivo gene editing therapies for complex gene edits, including gene insertion (adding DNA to a gene to enable expression or add function), elimination (removing a genome, such as viral DNA), and excision (removing a large part of a defective gene by delivering two ARCUS nucleases within a single adeno-associated virus ("AAV")). Genome editing is a biotechnology process that removes, inserts, or repairs a segment of DNA at a specific location within a cell's genome. While early applications focused on genetic research, advancements in genome editing technologies are now enabling their use in treating or preventing diseases by editing DNA. This process is achieved by delivering a DNA cutting enzyme, known as an endonuclease, to a targeted segment of genetic code.
